Description This is a wonderful sonata for a virtuoso marimba player.
It has three movements:
a. the first one in sonata form;
b. the second one in fugue form;
c. the third one in rondo form.
The sonata is written in the mixolydian mode on the keynote of C and the first and the last movements stand in that mode. The second or slow movement stands in the parallel minor mode of the mixolydian, which is the phrygian mode, on the keynote of A with sharps and flats as used in the Jewish music.
